Yesterday the Government of India has taken a big decision in collaboration with the states. Now GST has become even simpler. Now there are only two rates of GST - 5 and 18 percent. The new rates of GST will be implemented from 22 September i.e. the first day of Navratri.

PM Modi said that from September 22, everything from paneer to shampoo will become cheaper. Whatever promise was made, it was fulfilled. Change is necessary with time. PM Modi said that during the Congress rule, there was a tax on toffees as well. During the Congress rule, there was a tax of Rs 25 on Rs 100. Congress used to levy 21% tax on toffees. There was a 17% tax on the common man's bicycle. It was difficult to build a house during the Congress rule.
PM Modi said that during the Congress regime, there was heavy tax on everyday things. The reforms that are going on to make India self-reliant are not going to stop. This time Dhanteras will be even more vibrant because the tax on dozens of things has been reduced a lot now. When GST was implemented 8 years ago, the dream of many decades came true. This was one of the biggest economic reforms of independent India.
PM Modi said that before I came to power in 2014, the Congress government used to levy different taxes on many things like kitchen items, agricultural items, medicines, even life insurance. If you bought something worth Rs. 100, you had to pay Rs. 20-25 as tax. But the aim of our government is to save money in the lives of common people and make their lives better.
PM Modi said that this series of reforms to make India self-reliant is not going to stop. Self-reliance for India… this is not a slogan, concrete efforts are being made in this direction. GST 2.0 is a double dose of support and growth for the country. Every family in the country will get a huge benefit from the new GST reform.
